Bands
This Festival had a lot of highlights, bands and Artists I know quite long and like so much, as the brillant Hans Thessink, some surprises like S. G. Goodman late at night or the wild Gangar at the volunteers party.
The opening was introduced by Jesper Henning Pedersen, the phantastic chief presenter of the festival who welcomed the mayor of the Tønder Commune, Jørgen Popp Peterse, Princess Marie of Danmark, the patron of the festival, and the ambassador of the United Staes in Denmar Alan Leventhal. Leventhal held a very good speech pointing out the advantages of the festival, the spirit of music, the sharing of different cultures, diversity and the joy of playing, singing and dancing together.

Folk Spot
The Folk Spot was again an inspiration regarding the variety of scandinavian folk music. I follow this event some some years and am very happy to know more and more of these artists. Meanwhile I have the oppurtunity to talk to musicians, photographers and festival organizers in the folkspot tent which makes my life on this festival more interesting. And this year I had the oppurtunity to "survive" the hardest thunderstorm of my life in this tent.

Beside the Festival Program
There are several activities beside the festival program at severals places.
An important part of the festival takes place at the camping site with a special stage and with severals jam tents The campers play together with friends at their tents and caravans and some of them meet in the evening and jam until the early morning.
In the musicians bar traditinally many jam sessions take place, this year very interesting that clarinet, trumpet an saxophon appeared na dfit well to the dances and reels. Another venue, connected to the festival, ist the Hagges where every evening concerts are performed.

A very special concert was given on an open air stage at the Tønder station. There was the toughest audience of the world sitting unimpressed in the heavy pouring rain.
